Collier Park Corrals to Spring Creek Headwaters

Collier Park Corrals to Spring Creek Headwaters

May 25, 2019

High Desert Trail Riders got together to ride the trail from the Collier Park corrals to the headwaters of Spring Creek. It’s an easy ride, mostly level with one pretty steep hill to get up and over. The footing is mostly dirt, which can be pretty dusty in the summer so it’s best that riders go in smaller groups to raise the least dust. The only gravel is when you get to the headwaters; the wonderful campground that is there is no longer maintained. I asked a forest ranger about that a while back, and he said it wasn’t well used because it tends to be very mosquito ridden. Personally, I’ve not found it to be any better or any worse than anywhere else in the June through July months.
